On November 19, 2014 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Decree № 1129-p approved the draft Agreement (in the form of an exchange of notes) between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Romania on the opening of international border checkpoint through Ukrainian-Romanian state border for the ferry, passenger and freight traffic between the settlements Orlovka (Ukraine) and Isaccea (Romania).
This is a truly historic event for Bessarabia and Danube, because the object has strategic importance for the Odessa region and the south of Ukraine as a whole, because it is a single transport corridor on the border with the EU in the region.
This will allow the Danube to strengthen its transport and transit potential, having direct access to the European transport corridors and the Black Sea transport ring road, which in turn will attract additional traffic, increase the amount of foreign investment, and as a result, will improve the economic situation in the region.
Implementation of this project namely ferry traffic between Orlovka and Isakcha on the Ukrainian side was actively provided by the deputy of the Odessa Regional Council Dimchoglo Yuri Dmitrievich together with the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Cisse Anton Ivanovich and Reni district state administration, with the support of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Odessa Regional State Administration and Service roads in the Odessa region.
